Zelenskyy Announces Switzerland as Venue for Trilateral Peace Talks
In a conversation with Piers Morgan released late Wednesday, Zelenskyy characterized the latest meetings in Switzerland as “very important” for demonstrating and conveying the reality that the continuing conflict is unfolding on European soil — a fact he suggested is not universally acknowledged.
“The next meeting will be also in Switzerland,” Zelenskyy said.
From Feb. 17–18, a third session of trilateral negotiations among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States was convened in Geneva, Switzerland. Following the talks, Russian presidential adviser Vladimir Medinsky indicated that another gathering in this configuration would occur “very soon.”
These diplomatic engagements came after two prior rounds hosted in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, on Jan. 23–24 and Feb. 4–5. The second meeting culminated in the first exchange of prisoners between Moscow and Kyiv since October of the previous year.
Addressing a briefing delivered by Ukraine’s delegation, headed by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Zelenskyy noted that the negotiating representatives would head back to Kyiv and conduct a more transparent briefing compared with the earlier one.
He further observed that advancements along the military dimension have outpaced developments on the political side, which he described as characterized by divergent viewpoints among the three participating sides.
